Back in 2018 I was traveling down a rabbit hole on YouTube and Wikipedia. I started with Mike Tyson highlights and iconic moments which sent me to interviews and documentaries and the next thing you know I’m looking up names mentioned in the interviews and I stumbled on this picture of Mike giving money to a homeless man. The image sent me down a rabbit hole of feelings. Immediately it made me think of a scripture when Big Sandals Himself said
““They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.””
Matthew 25:44-46 NIV
Recently Mike Tyson got in the ring with Jake Paul. It’s 2024 and the amount of negative criticism is quick to form giant gray clouds over literally anything that finds its way into the news and naturally the shots were all being fired at Mike before, during and after the fight. Today's Mike Tyson has gotten it all back after losing it all and regardless of what the talking heads had to say he showed up completely present for the experience after years of reaping the benefits of counseling and therapy. Mike’s statement after the fight reminded us all that this is a different Iron Mike Tyson:
I didn't know Mike almost died back in June, but understood the gratitude he was emoting and can relate because I almost died back in March 2024. I'll save that story for another time, but his words took me back to that night I put together this collection of Instrumentals that I called a "Dawgone Shame"
